Giddiness is the feeling of the day for it is only 96 hours until we leave for Greece. I actually couldn't sleep last night for excitement, so I stayed up reading guidebooks and the Berlitz. I have learned several greek words but I am not entirely confident I could pull out the right one at the drop of a hat. Especially once the 40 degree weather fries my brain into happy fuzziness (or will that be the ouzo??). What if I am ordering a coffee (to kafes) and want to say "medium sweet" (metrios) but instead pull out a lame "kokkino" which means "red". As you can tell, it is important to me to at least get some of the beverages straight.
Random thoughts: One of the many things I am looking forward to is the custom of the afternoon "break" when everyone closes up at around 2:00 for a few hours to rest or at least escape the sun. I love the Europeans' concept of flex time.
